Worth a visit !

Campsite Port-Punay is a perfect starting point to discover La Rochelle, Rochefort and the islands Ré, Oléron and Aix.

Châtelaillon-Plage and the surroundings can easily be discovered by bike, so don’t forget your bicycles or rent them at Campsite Port-Punay !

La Rochelle

The fortified town of La Rochelle has built its splendor on and around the ocean. The cultural and architectural heritage of this one-time fishing village sheds light on its maritime vocation: the towers overlooking the Old Harbour, the big clock, the Renaissance houses that once belonged to shipowners, the arcaded shop-lined streets, the museums and not to forget the huge aquarium... At the Minimes Harbour, first european harbour on the atlantic coast, you’ll find the world’s most beautiful yachts and catamarans.

At the reception of Campsite Port-Punay you’ll find a box-office for the Aquarium and also a public transportation pass to visit La Rochelle. The bus stop is at only 100m from Campsite Port-Punay and the card will give you special prices on different tourist spots.

Rochefort

During the XVII century, the age of Colbert, Rochefort was the departure harbour for the major expeditions. Hundreds of vessels belonging to the marine have been built in Rochefort! The salvaging of the Corderie royale in the sixties and the more recent and altogether faithful reconstruction of the Hermione marked the beginning of a new start for the town.

At Campsite Port-Punay you’ll find public transportation passes to visit Rochefort : from the railway station in the center of Châtelaillon-Plage, at merely 2km from Campsite Port-Punay, you can spend an entire day in Rochefort. Don’t forget to visit l’Hermione and the Corderie Royale!

Island Aix

Car-free island and the only way to get there is by boat! The island of Aix can be discoverd by bike or even by foot! Follow the footsteps of Napoléon, who came twice to Aix.
A beautiful spot for those who are fond of the nature with the fine rose trees melting deliciously into the landscape and the little creeks all over the island!

At the reception of Campsite Port-Punay you can book your cruise: your day starts with a boat trip along the river Charente, then you go around the Fort Boyard to finally spend the entire afternoon on the island Aix!

Island Ré

Better known as the pearl of the ocean, the Island Ré is linked to La Rochelle by a bridge. During the entire year, the island is very much apreciated for its cycle paths which cover over 100km!
Come and see us at the reception for more information before taking of to the island Ré!
